It was just last week he was hanging out at our place. I can still remember his comments to Misha when she was dancing to ‘Jojo’s circus’ on Playhouse Disney. “Wah, joget gelek-gelek dah macam Shakira lah…”. On that same day, he had presented me with an Armani perfume. But today, we came to know of his passing.
Nin, we all miss you as a friend, and surely Misha misses you as her godfather. May Allah bless your soul…Rest in peace, dear friend…

Last Saturday, I had sent my son, Mika, for the mandatory circumcision by Dr. Tahir at Crescent Clinic. Alhamdulillah, everything went smoothly. Both P and I were not allowed in the surgical room and we had to wait outside until the whole procedure was completed. This is opposed to the time when I had sent my first-born daughter to Balkis clinic for her circumcision (where I was allowed to hold her legs and witness the procedure).
Whilst outside, I heard his cries and I felt a tinge of pain in my heart. But his cry lasted only a few minutes. After that, he stopped, and I was dying to know what happened. After about 15 minutes, one of the doctor’s assistants brought him out of the surgical room and handed him to me (along with his foreskin tightly sealed in a piece of plastic). Surprisingly, my boy seemed to look alright and managed a smile. How brave.
Back at home, I was very curious to know how the procedure was done. Looking at his foreskin through that piece of plastic triggered my inquisitive mind, so I googled and came across this site.
Seeing THAT, I thought to myself, thank GOD I did not witness it at all!
Yesterday, I had brought Mika to the clinic again for his follow up check-up, and the doctor said everything’s normal and the area was showing sign of healing. The plastic ring on his penis is said to “drop off” within 5 to 8 days, and he said I should continue to bathe him as normal.
Alhamdulillah, semuanya dah selamat.
Ever since I handed down my Canon Powershot A80 to my brother, I’ve always wanted to get a new digital camera but couldn’t decide whether to go for a compact one or a DSLR. Well, obviously the DSLR would cost more, but it would be a good buy if I were to have full manual control and most importantly, wide dynamic range of sharp photos. But the shortcoming is that DSLR cameras are bulky and heavy.
Of late, I have been visiting dpreview.com and photo.net and was inspired by the review photos that were put up. I am so inclined to get either one of these.
Canon EOS 40D

Canon Digital Rebel XTi (400D)

Nikon D80

But which one? Hmm.
Here we go again – a nerve-wrecking moment we haven’t had in a long time. For the past two days, my girl has been extra clingy, extra whiny, extra cranky, and extra mad (mad at me, mad at P, mad at her toys, her food and everything else imaginable). Even her mood swing changes faster than the eye could blink!
We tried to console her and put up with her needs, but nothing seemed to work. Ada time tu dah geram sangat tangan ni pun jalan jugak. But that made things even worse. We couldn’t figure out why the sudden change in behaviour – until we saw her stuff her fingers into her saliva-covered mouth right to the back of her teeth. Now why hadn’t it struck us earlier? She’s growing her last set of baby teeth – the second molars!
Recalling her previous bout of teething incident some long months ago (the first molars), I remembered it wasn’t a pleasant experience at all. I’m talking about excessive crying, sleepless nights and things of that sorts. Her temperature had shot up to 40 degrees celsius, and she was *nearly* rushed to the hospital. And now we’re probably about to go through it again! *Oh, horror* Thankfully she hasn’t had a temperature this time (so far), however her nose has been running mucus all day long.
Tomorrow it’s gonna be a day off from school and a visit to the doctor. I’ve been giving her gripe water for now. Can’t think of any other remedies to try except letting her munch on some cool carrots (which she disapproves).
Let me know if you have any other working remedies for teething – I’d love to hear them!

“Mommy needn’t forcefully make me cry this time. I did it on my own.”
Remember Nunu? …a.k.a Baby Naima (i.e. Misha’s little niece who’s only 6 months younger than her)? If you had browsed through my photo page, you would have come across this photo taken during our Hari Raya outing with our extended family last year.
A year has passed, and these two girls have grown a lot since then.
Last time I saw Nunu was during my housewarming gathering in August this year. Yesterday, P’s elder brother (Abg Pa’at) had brought her to our home for a visit and they had a sleepover. Abg Pa’at had been assigned a babysitting job for the day (and night) since Nunu’s grandma (P’s elder sister) had to go for her weekly dialysis, while the rest were at work.
And my-oh-my, look at how big she’s grown!
They don’t look much like aunt & niece, do they? (*nor am I looking like her grandaunt, ain’t I?* :p)
Ps: She was so freaking scared of P biting her thighs I swear she’d probably wouldn’t look forward to visiting us again. At least I think.
Monday, Dec 3rd, 2007, was Misha’s first day at school. P & I had accompanied her and spent the full day at the centre. We noticed that she could get along well with her centre mates, although most of the time she was caught playing by herself. She got quite comfortable, nonetheless. One thing good was that she didn’t complain or make a fuss when other kids snatched her toys away from under her nose. She would divert her attention to other things.
The only worrying part is that she barely eats despite their daily servings of healthy meals. For breakfast, the centre had served Honey Stars in a bowl and a cup of milk. She *did* munch a couple of “stars” using a spoon (although with slight difficulty as she’s used to eating Honey Stars with her hands). But she *did* try and somehow managed on her own. Her milk was, however, untouched. At lunch, she didn’t eat her porridge. She shook her head no when her teacher even tried to feed her. She *did* however finished one slice of apple. For snacks, she took 2 feeds of waffle with syrup and refused to eat the rest. Her milo was, once again, untouched. Apart from that I think she did quite well.
We’ll just wait and see how she progresses over the week.

More photos at my multiply page.
Looks like Misha isn’t the *only* one accustomed to this addiction. *sigh*
And he is only 7 and a half weeks old.

While his sister fancies suckling her left thumb, he is more inclined to do so with his right. I’m not quite certain if this is a sign of hunger (which I doubt, because I feel he is well-breastfed every 2 to 3 hours – *tengoklah betapa semangat badan dia sekarang!*), or merely seeking his own comfort.
On the contrary, he has been sported thumb-sucking even in my tum-tum during one of my ultra-sound scan sessions.
…dah jadi habit ke ni?
