I must thank Yati for the (way-belated) birthday gift. Now I am a proud owner of the ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ DVD set – seasons one to three!

Ok now, must find time to watch. After the kids’ bedtime perhaps?

I had enrolled myself in a project management course which was conducted at Marina Mandarin last week. One of the coursework made me realize the things one could do (and achieve) which I never knew possible. We were given a set of (three) requirements with limited materials (resources), and were given 10 minutes to complete the task.

The requirements were:
- to build an animal, which MUST look like an animal,
- it has to be 3D,
- it must be able to stand.

The materials given were loads of papers, masking tape and a marker.

Without having much time to get our creative juices flowing, my team had jump staight into ‘building’ parts of our so-called ‘giraffe’, and managed to complete the project on schedule BUT missing out on one of it’s basic requirement ie: it had to look like a giraffe! Our giraffe looked a bit pathetic even though it managed to stand throughout the whole duration of the course, haha. It was three-dimentional though.

Glancing at the next table, they’ve come up with something quite remarkable.

Cantik tak? It was said to be a goat.

Although it was not able to fully stand, it DID stood on its hind legs – which was still valid because the requirement did not specifically mentioned it had to stand on all four! Haha, gotcha. So, they won this round.

Then, during our objectives-setting exercise, we were asked to stand and single-handedly tie knots using *only* our capable hands. Our group was able to tie a total of 14 knots, being defeated by the other group who managed to tie 17! So, during the second trial, we were told to outdo the first round, so our target was now 20. This time we were informed to use our less capable hand (damn!). Surprisingly, this time round, not only did we reach our target, we went beyond to tie a total of 23 knots altogether AND defeated the other team!

I managed 5 knots myself using my left hand as opposed to only 2 knots using my right. I realized then that my less capable hand is my better hand after all *lol*

A hearty congratulations to my second cousin, Zurah, on her wedding to Fadli. May she and her spouse be filled with a blessed and everlasting marriage…

There are times when I thought to myself, why is it, no matter how much we’re getting, it is always not enough? No matter how much we try to save, we always can’t. No matter how hard we refrain ourselves from spending, we always feel compelled to? Each time we grumble at how expensive things have become, yet we buy them. We lulled ourselves into thinking we always want the best for ourselves and our loved ones.

I have got to change this act. Seriously.
