…mom says that fish is good for the heart…

…ergh, this fish sure is tough to bite…

…maybe it needs a dash of milk…
Two years ago this month, Misha sported her first tooth. Just two days ago, it’s deja-vu all over again when Mika’s first tooth emerged from his gums – at the exact same spot as his sister’s.
His cranky level went up by a notch, but that’s already expected. The more worrying thing is his non-stop poo-poo-ing. I think he might have caught the diarrhea. The sight of his sore blistery butt is painful enough. Not only is his butt full of blisters and rash, his body developed some kind of redness what looks like an allergy or something. Diaper-change rate stands at two per hour, with a half hour ‘airing’ interval.
I apply ‘Elomet’ cream religiously (prescribed by Dr. Heng) which had worked wonders to his previous rash-like encounters. But the stinging seems unbearable for the little one as he keeps twitching and turning every time the cream come into contact with his skin – which made diaper-change a bit of a challenge.
Dear Mummy,
My teacher says I have made a lot of improvement in school. I learn new words and speak up more, I participate in all the class activities, and enjoy getting along with teachers and friends. She also says I like to sing in class, erm, loudly! *grins*
Oh, and I think I’m not the only one learning new things. My brother is also picking up a few tricks of his own. I think he’s able to stand by himself now, just as long as he has something to hold onto. He likes playing with me, I think…
I will update you again with my progress. Until then, here’s some photos I’d like to share. Take care, Mummy.
Lots of love,
Misha
What’s it like not seeing my bo-boy for three days? Horrible I tell you!
It’s Day #3 today, and I’ll be bringing Misha for a return visit to the doctor to confirm if
she’s a-okay to go back to school come Monday so I can bring my little ‘gendut’ home tonight.
Misha, on the other hand, is recuperating fast. She’s beginning to eat again. *yay*
And she seems happier now. I’m not certain if she seems so due to her getting better, or because we get to spend some quality time at home together without her little brother around. Hmm.
Me: “Misha, where is Mika?”
Misha: *thinks for a moment, then smiles*
Misha: “a-yi aus” (Yayi’s house)
Me: “Can Mummy bring Mika home?”
Misha: *shakes head*…”no”
Me: “No? Do you want to see Mika tonight?”
Misha: *nods head and smiles*
Meanwhile, I was informed that Mika is enjoying his stay at his Yayi’s house.

edited: Mika’s back! *yay*
Last Saturday, I had sent my son, Mika, for the mandatory circumcision by Dr. Tahir at Crescent Clinic. Alhamdulillah, everything went smoothly. Both P and I were not allowed in the surgical room and we had to wait outside until the whole procedure was completed. This is opposed to the time when I had sent my first-born daughter to Balkis clinic for her circumcision (where I was allowed to hold her legs and witness the procedure).
Whilst outside, I heard his cries and I felt a tinge of pain in my heart. But his cry lasted only a few minutes. After that, he stopped, and I was dying to know what happened. After about 15 minutes, one of the doctor’s assistants brought him out of the surgical room and handed him to me (along with his foreskin tightly sealed in a piece of plastic). Surprisingly, my boy seemed to look alright and managed a smile. How brave.
Back at home, I was very curious to know how the procedure was done. Looking at his foreskin through that piece of plastic triggered my inquisitive mind, so I googled and came across this site.
Seeing THAT, I thought to myself, thank GOD I did not witness it at all!
Yesterday, I had brought Mika to the clinic again for his follow up check-up, and the doctor said everything’s normal and the area was showing sign of healing. The plastic ring on his penis is said to “drop off” within 5 to 8 days, and he said I should continue to bathe him as normal.
Alhamdulillah, semuanya dah selamat.
Looks like Misha isn’t the *only* one accustomed to this addiction. *sigh*
And he is only 7 and a half weeks old.

While his sister fancies suckling her left thumb, he is more inclined to do so with his right. I’m not quite certain if this is a sign of hunger (which I doubt, because I feel he is well-breastfed every 2 to 3 hours – *tengoklah betapa semangat badan dia sekarang!*), or merely seeking his own comfort.
On the contrary, he has been sported thumb-sucking even in my tum-tum during one of my ultra-sound scan sessions.
…dah jadi habit ke ni?
In many cases, it is normal for some toddlers to show signs of jealousy when they acquired a new sibling, while others regress and simply want to go back to being a baby all over again. Misha falls under this (latter) category of kids where her regressive behaviour is noticeably visible. These days, she will:
(a) flail her arms and legs about during diaper change,
(b) not wanting to hold her own bottle but having someone hold it for her during milk feeds,
(c) having someone feed her instead of eating on her own,
(d) whining about and make baby-like cries when she needed something,
(e) lying down on the baby-rocker more frequently than her baby brother does.
Every day my patience is put to a test, especially since I’m the only person at home looking after the two kids when P’s out at work. This, along with the daily household chores – minus the cooking because I just don’t have the time nowadays. (Wonderwoman should give me a pat on the back for trying
)

Reminiscing her baby days…
On a positive note however, she does shower her baby brother with lots of love and affection. Every now and then she will kiss him on his cheeks and stroke his head and/or arms gently. There are times when she wants to “look after” him like any grown-up would. She’ll say things like:
“Keeka, piz o kway…” (read: Mika, pls don’t cry…), or
“okei, okei…shh, shh, shh…keeka, shleep…” (read: ok, ok…shh, shh, shh…Mika, sleep…)
Sometimes, she’d even read to him at his cot…

And when I’m busy bonding with the little one, she will preoccupy herself with a substitute – putting it to sleep and even burping it!

Firstly, I would like to apologize for my lack of posts in the past couple of weeks. As you may have guessed, I finally had my baby. After the long 40+ weeks of gestation, my beautiful bundle of joy has arrived! Let me warn you though that the rest of this post would be a depiction of my labour experience, leaving the warm and fuzzy details of parenthood joy for my next entry.
During the first few days after my estimated due date had passed, P had brought Misha and I along to work everyday (he spent most of his work time on the roads so we just stayed in the car the whole time) so that in the event of any ‘emergency’, he would be ready to send me to the hospital anytime. He didn’t want me to be at home all alone when I’m having labour contractions. However on Friday morning (05.10.2007), P wanted us to stay over at my Mom’s so that we can be ‘properly looked after’. That morning, I’ve been having minor contractions but was still able to walk, although with slight discomfort. At about 1600hrs, the contractions were timed much closer together and the pain was more immense. I still had time to take a bath and this time I thought my water bag had leaked slightly. After shower, I texted P on his cellphone saying that I needed to go to the hospital immediately. He arrived at Mom’s and sent me to East Shore hospital in a jiffy.
In the labour ward, the midwife checked me and informed that I was already 5 cm dilated! After that everything seemed to move on pretty fast. I tried to refrain myself from taking in too much (painkiller) drugs so that I can ‘witness’ the delivery without feeling groggy (the last time when I was delivering Misha, I did not even get to see Misha’s face in the clear due to drug overdose). In the next hour or so, the pain became more unbearable and I had no choice but to make the gas mask my best friend for the day. After about an hour of excruciating contractions, I had requested for a pethadine jab, but refused later when I was told that I was already 9cm dilated. During this time, my gynae was called in to rupture my waterbag. At 2038hrs, Friday, October 5th, 2007, Mika’il Rusydi was born, after approximately 4.5 hours of labour. He was measured at 52cm, weighing 3.335kg at birth.
