It’s been more than two months since my last update. What’s with the newborn, the new home, children’s schoolwork, and having to ‘entertain’ the helper’s antics, no doubt my maternity leave has never been busier. No chance to ‘action tai-tai‘ walk around Orchard Road shopping with baby on weekdays like I used to during my last maternity leave.

‘Action tai-tai’ two years ago when Anaqi was just a little baby.
So what happened during my absence from blogville?
Friends came to visit.
05th and 6th Mar 2011 – I was still putting up at my parents’ when a couple of my old friends and BFFs came to visit, and showered baby Aqeil with gifts. Thank you lovely aunties and uncles for your generosity.

New ‘toys’ to play with.
10th Mar 2011 - It was the first day of IT Show 2011, P and I headed down to Suntec Convention Centre where we had plans to recce camera lenses, but were saddened when told that Canon lenses were not available for sale during the show. We then made a quick pitstop to Nubox to check on a few Apple products and in less than an hour, we were proud owners of this – an iMac! (Buh-bye Windows XP!). It comes with a 27″ LED-backlit display, 2.8GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB memory and 1TB of disk space! (yes, very tech stuff, I know)
Our purchase from the IT Show 2011.
12th Mar 2011 – After my disappointment of not getting the-badly-most-wanted-camera-lens at the IT Show, P and I decided to make a trip down to Cathay Photo at Peninsula Plaza to check out a few. I heard this place sells a huge range of camera lenses at reasonable prices and they’ve got excellent sales staff. Anyway, I tried out a couple of lenses on my own Canon EOS 40D and finally decided to get…
Sigma 18-250mm DC OS HSM
… and on top of that, I added an external flash to my checkout basket.
Canon Speedlite 430EX II Flash
Guess what (or who) are the first subjects to model their first tryout?
Chak!
Such are the things that excite me! (Dresses, bags and shoes, you say? Not quite as much.)
Sister’s Engagement & Birthday!
26th Mar 2011 – Yes, my little sister Dhiah is all so grown up now. On this day, she turned 25 years of age and got engaged! (Hey, wasn’t it only yesterday she woke up for kindergarten?). Anyway, she’s engaged to a Mohd Sadiq, who seems like a nice guy. I’ve seen him twice or thrice, but I haven’t spoken to him before. But I’m so happy for them both. Insyallah, semoga pertunangan mereka kekal hingga ke jinjang pelamin. Amin.

Stay tune for April happenings and Housewarming entries in my upcoming posts soon.
I had finally bought my pc parts from sim lim square last weekend, but I’ve been procrastinating to put them together. they’re still in boxes unopened. i’ve been browsing the internet looking for good, cheap pc parts, and finally gotten a good deal from a store on the fifth floor.
the trip to sim lim proved to be undesirable. aside from the weekend crowd, our beloved car was greeted by an unexpected mishap just when we’re about to leave.
a van had reversed itself and parked in that manner. all this happen while we were shopping for the pc goods. thankfully, it was just a small dent. we’ve been trying to trace the owner of the van, but to no avail (even with the help of building management and security).
Just when you thought you had saved enough to get that brand new camera you dreamt of, your desktop computer just had to die on you. Attempts to salvage it from any further damage proved useless. Even after a full format of my harddisk partition, reinstallation of the operating system could not be completed due to errors. I guess it’s really time its life came to an end. Thankfully my files are residing in a different harddisk partition, so hopefully when I get a brand new computer up and running I could copy them over for safekeeping. For the time being, I had to rely on my laptop computer.
I had just spent the whole morning looking for computer parts online, and compared specs and prices, for DIY assembly. It has been many years since I last did this. Parts and gadgets have changed and improved over the years, and for a person like me who hasn’t been updated with the latest information on hardware technology, it takes quite a while to research what I feel is good to have and what not.
I just hope I could get something good within budget.
Woo…Guess who’s the proud owner of a Gmail account?! *bats eyes innocently* Thank you very much, Ivan, for the lovely invite…
But looks like I won’t be using it in a while though. My comp totally crashed yesterday, and I think it’s a good time for me to get my HDD formatted and have only necessary programs installed. If I recall correctly the last time I had my PC cleaned up was slightly more than a year ago. Good thing my dad lets me use his PC for a bit, so I can post this. But the thing is, I have a slight problem… Two, actually. Since it has been more than a year, I’ve totally forgotten what’s my Administrator password is on my Win2k machine. Hence I can’t get to the DOS prompt from the CD to do the formatting other than using a Boot disk (which I currently do not have). Secondly, I seem to have misplaced my mainboard driver installation disk. So until I find the damn thing, I don’t think I’ll be doing any formatting any time soon.
Can’t wait to get all evil junks out of my registry. No wait! The only time when I get rid of all evil junks would be when I finally get a Linux
Erm, just not right now perhaps…
Slightly off-topic…The OC is finally back later today after almost 1 and half months of being amiss from Channel 5…*yay*…I wonder what took them so long? The Olympics has long been gone.
edit: Grr, I can’t believed they changed it..AGAIN!! I mean, Wrestling? WTF?
